Joe has been with Allergan for 17 years. In that time, he has enjoyed a career that has taken him in many exciting directions. He initially joined the company in 1991, lured by the growth potential in the pharmaceutical industry. Joe started as a sales representative for the Allergan Optical Division in Portland, Oregon. Since then, his career path has included six promotions, two moves to Southern California, a transfer to Dallas, Texas, as Area Sales Manager, and a three-year assignment with Allergan in Europe. During this time, Allergan has presented him with four awards for excellence, including President's Club and Leadership Council awards, and also helped him obtain his Master of Business Administration degree.

Today, Joe is a Regional Account Manager in Allergan's Managed Markets division. In that role, Joe is responsible for securing and maintaining coverage of Allergan's products on health care insurance plans. Prior to his recent move to the Managed Markets team, Joe was responsible for improving sales force effectiveness through sales skills mentoring and coaching for Allergan's Neurosciences portfolio, which focuses on the sale of BOTOX® for medical use. As part of Allergan's extensive sales training program designed to ensure Allergan's service and representatives are well above standard, Joe facilitated communications with the sales force, organized sales meetings and helped to ensure alignment with Allergan's compliance-oriented culture.

Joe initially credits his decision to join Allergan to the connection he made with his first supervisor. Over the years, he has continued to enjoy the supportive, family atmosphere throughout the Sales division. He describes it as an environment where people are always willing to work together in order to help one another.

He is also motivated by Allergan's results-oriented, entrepreneurial culture. The fact that individuals are marketing products created by Allergan fosters a strong sense of ownership and pride among the sales team. This is strengthened by practices that include giving individuals a great deal of responsibility in a field where success can easily be measured by market share. In his words, the various sales organizations at Allergan recognize the importance of celebrating sales successes - and they do it regularly.

After 17 years with the company, Joe is continually excited by the opportunities the organization provides. He says, "I grew up with this company, and I'm very proud to work for Allergan."
